The Day The Elf came ALIVE!

Mr. Jingles Bell adventure started by "magically" showing up as a gift from nowhere on our front porch when we got home yesterday evening.  It was getting pretty dark at this time so Bug just about didn't see it.

Being she was blind to it all, I had to bring it up.  The conversation went something like this:
Me "what's that on the porch"
Bug "I don't know"
Me "Well get out and go get it"
Bug "no, I'm scared"
Me "just go get it"
She gets out of the car.  She gets the bag and screams
"IT'S A CHRISTMAS TREE!!!"
Me "ummmm I don't think that's what it is"
Bug "yes mom, it's a Christmas tree.  I know it's a Christmas tree"
Me "lets look at it closer in the house"

We take the box in and start examining just what this mysterious package is.  Ahhhh! It has a nice hard back instruction manual, how nice of Santa to include this!  We begin reading the book to which she pays absolutely no attention to.  It strictly prohibits touching of the elf or he loses his power to fly to the North Pole and report to Santa just how good of a girl she has been.  So what does Bug do? She tries to touch him!  So the elf on the shelf quickly became the elf in a box on the refrigerator.  But we quickly fill out his new name: Jingles Bells

Bed time FINALLY comes (I'm single parenting it this week, so this felt like it took eternity to arrive)!  The silly little Jingles Bells finds his way out of his box on the refrigerator and flies to the North Pole to do his first night of reporting.  He must have gotten back a little late because he kept his tricks pretty simple.  He stole Bug's Etch-A-Sketch to leave her a little message for in the morning.

I can't wait to see what kind of mischief Mr. Jingles Bells gets into tonight!
